Seeking a wider Light 

Maiandeua Island, mother of the land in the indigenous language Tupi, is located in the Brazilian Amazon, in the state of Pará. Known in the region for a particular mysticism, it only had access to electric power in 2005, as part of the national program ¨Luz para todos¨ (Light for all). This  promoted by the government of ¨Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT)¨ led by former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The program allowed 16 million Brazilians to have electricity in their homes. This work was developed in 2018, when the 15 years of this program were celebrated, and It is an evaluation of the impact of electricity in the largest town on the island, Algodoal.
